Cashmere Storage

Would you like to extend the life of your cashmere clothing? Then it is important that you know how to wash cashmere clothing correctly and store it in the best possible way. You may think that it doesn't make much difference whether you hang your cashmere clothing on hangers or store it in drawers – but how you store it can actually have a significant impact on the appearance and quality of your clothing.

At Beta Studios, we are committed to creating timeless designs of the highest quality, so that our cashmere garments can be passed down and enjoyed by several generations. We only use OEKO-TEX-certified cashmere wool from Inner Mongolia of the highest quality. Our goal is for our elegant cashmere blouses and sets to last you a lifetime – and that requires you to know how to store them properly.

Avoid hanging your cashmere clothing on hangers

It may be tempting to hang your beautiful cashmere blouses and jumpers on hangers so you can quickly grab them on a chilly winter morning. However, if blouses and jumpers made of cashmere are hung on hangers for too long, the fabric will stretch and lose its shape. This means that the blouse will lose its shape and fit, and it will not drape as nicely on your body.
Cashmere is made from long, thin wool fibres, so you must be careful not to twist, pull or stretch the fabric too much. The best way to store cashmere clothing is therefore to lay it flat in a wardrobe or drawers.

Protect your cashmere clothing from moths

Is there anything worse than discovering that moths have eaten away at the clothes you were looking forward to wearing? When it comes to our luxurious cashmere clothing, it is particularly important to keep your wardrobe free of moths so that your cashmere clothing will last for years to come. The soft wool is not only luxurious for us humans, but it is also particularly delicious for hungry moths.
Sweat and dirt are some of the things that attract moths – and when they get into your clothes, they can cause holes and damage. Therefore, it may be a good idea to store your cashmere clothes in a bag that moths cannot get into. A bag with lavender scent or a piece of cedar wood that has been sanded down a little can also be indispensable when your cashmere clothes are left lying around for a long time. The scent will scare away moths, which would otherwise be tempted to feast on your cashmere.

Avoid storing cashmere clothing in direct sunlight

To avoid discolouration, you should not store your cashmere clothing in direct sunlight. This applies both when you dry your clothes outdoors and when you subsequently put them away. It is therefore best to store your cashmere clothing in a cool, dry place such as a cupboard or drawers.
You should also keep your cashmere clothing away from heat sources when hanging it up to dry. Do not use a hair dryer, radiator or underfloor heating to dry your clothing faster. This could damage your cashmere clothing, causing it to lose its shape and develop unsightly creases.

Air your cashmere clothes regularly

In our opinion, cashmere season lasts all year round, because you can wear a soft cashmere jumper on a crisp spring morning, a late summer evening, or to add elegance to a winter outfit. Cashmere regulates itself according to your body heat, so you neither sweat nor freeze.
If you do decide to pack away some of your cashmere clothes for a longer period of time, it is important that you wash them first and wait until they are completely dry before packing them away. And don't leave them lying around gathering dust – this can attract moths. Take your cashmere clothes out from time to time to air them, so you can be sure that moths have not got into them.

Get rid of lint on cashmere clothing

If you find that your cashmere jumper is pilling, there are several ways to deal with this: you can either pick the lint off with your fingers or use a lint remover or wool comb. However, be careful not to cut holes in the jumper with a lint remover that uses small blades to cut the fibres. The gentlest method is to remove the lint manually.
