Washing and maintaining your clothes from Beta Studios
At Beta Studios, we love to see our clothes become part of your regular wardrobe - and with the right care, your favourite styles can last for many years. Our clothes are designed to be timeless and durable, and we would like to share our best tips on how to care for them. With a few simple habits, you can save time and get more enjoyment out of your clothes.
Knitwear / cashmere
Material
Soft, softer, softest. There is something very special about our cashmere, which comes from Inner Mongolia. Beta Studios cashmere is classified as “grade A”, consisting of fibres 14-15 micrometres in diameter and 32 mm in length. It may sound nerdy, but it provides a rare combination of softness, strength and minimal tendency to pill.
Washing
Your knitwear can be worn many times before it needs a trip to the washing machine. It is a good idea to air it outside to freshen it up. When it is time to wash, we recommend:
- Wash on a wool programme at 30℃ in a laundry bag with similar colours.
- Use a mild detergent for wool or cashmere.
- Spin at 600-800 rpm.
- Avoid fabric softener as it can damage the fibres.
Drying
- Lay the knit flat on a clean towel and let it dry in its natural shape.
-
Keep it away from direct sunlight, tumble dryers and hangers, which can stretch the yarn.
Storage
- Fold your knitwear and lay it flat in a drawer or on a shelf to preserve its shape.
- Place cedar balls nearby (without direct contact) to keep moths away.
- Avoid hanging the knitwear, as this can stretch the fibres over time.
Care
- Creases: Remove any creases with a garment steamer, but keep the steam at a slight distance to protect the fibres.
- Pilling: Small fluff balls (pilling) are completely natural for cashmere and occur due to friction, e.g. under the arms. Remove them carefully with an electric lint remover, moving it gently in the direction of the stitches.
Tailoring
Our tailored styles are designed to be wardrobe classics without an expiry date. With a little care, you can ensure that they remain smart and stylish season after season.
Washing
To maintain fit and quality, we recommend:
- Wash on a gentle cycle at 30℃ inside out with similar colours.
- Use a mild, gentle detergent.
- Spin at max. 800 rpm.
- Avoid fabric softener and tumble drying, as this can affect the fabric structure.
Drying
- Gently stretch the garment into shape after washing and hang it on a hanger to dry.
- Allow it to air dry – preferably in the shade.
Storage
- Hang your tailored styles on wide hangers to maintain their shape.
Maintenance
- Creases: Use a garment steamer or an iron on a low heat setting to smooth out creases. Place a clean cloth between the iron and the fabric for extra protection.
- Small stains: Dab gently with a damp cloth and mild soap – avoid rubbing.
Outerwear
We love to see our coats and jackets become your faithful companions, and with the right care, they will last for many seasons, year after year.
Cleaning and care
- Use a professional dry cleaner to maintain quality.
- Refresh between cleanings by airing outside.
Storage
- Hang your outerwear on a sturdy, wide hanger to maintain its shape.
